Believing God.
Mark 11:22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered.
John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God;

Fearing God.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the
matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man.
1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of
believers, fear God, honour the king.
loving God.
Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your strength.
Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
Following God.
Ephesians 5:1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children
1 Peter 1:15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all

Obeying God.

John 6:29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in

of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Loving Christ.
John 21:15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
"Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes,
Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said,
"Feed my lambs."
Ephesians 6:24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an
undying love.
Following the example of Christ.
John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done
for you.
1 Peter 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you,
leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 "He
committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." 23 When they
hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no

Obeying Christ.
John 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who

and show myself to him."

Living.
To Christ.
Romans 14:8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the
Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:15 And he died for all, that those who live should no
longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
Godly in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ
Jesus will be persecuted,
Unto righteousness.
Romans 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to
righteousness.
1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that

Soberly, righteously, and godly.

Walking.
Worthy of God.
1 Thessalonians 2:12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives
worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
Worthy of the Lord.
Colossians 1:10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy
of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,
growing in the knowledge of God,
In the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the
Spirit.
After the Spirit.
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus,
In newness of life.
Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death
in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the
Father, we too may live a new life.
Worthy of our vocation.
Ephesians 4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life
worthy of the calling you have received.
As children of light.
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord. Live as children of light
Rejoicing in Christ.
John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one
another above yourselves.
1 Corinthians 13:3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender
my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Ephesians 5:2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and
gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Striving for the faith.
Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy
of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you
in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one
man for the faith of the gospel
Jude 1:3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about
the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the
faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.
Putting away all sin.
1 Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch
without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been
sacrificed.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud
of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Abstaining from all appearance of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Avoid every kind of evil.
Perfecting holiness.
Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us
purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting
holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Timothy 3:17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work.
Hating defilement.
Jude 1:23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show
mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
Following after that which is good.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong,
but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
1 Timothy 6:11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
Overcoming the world.
1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the
victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes
the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Adorning the gospel.
Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy
of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you

man for the faith of the gospel
Titus 2:10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be
fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our
Saviour attractive.
Showing a good example.
1 Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and
in purity.
1 Peter 2:12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they
accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the
day he visits us.
Abounding in the work of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing
move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know
that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.
2 Corinthians 8:7 But just as you excel in everything--in faith, in
speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us --see that
you also excel in this grace of giving.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live
in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you
in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
Shunning the wicked.
Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the
wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 Thessalonians 3:6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command
you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live
according to the teaching you received from us.
Controlling the body.
1 Corinthians 9:27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after
I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Colossians 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your
earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which
is idolatry.
Subduing the temper.
Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun
go down while you are still angry,
James 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be
quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
Submitting to injuries.
Matthew 5:39 But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone
strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if someone
wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41 If
someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
Forgiving injuries.
Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Romans 12:20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap
burning coals on his head."
Living peaceably with all.
Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at
peace with everyone.
Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to
be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Visiting the afflicted.
Matthew 25:36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless
is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself
from being polluted by the world.
Doing as we would be done by.
Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do
to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Sympathising with others.
Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are
idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
Honouring others.
Psalms 15:4 who despises a vile man but honours those who fear the LORD,
who keeps his oath even when it hurts,
Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one
another above yourselves.
Fulfilling domestic duties.
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 "Honour your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with
a promise-- 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long
life on the earth." 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,
bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. 5 Slaves, obey your
earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you
would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favour when their eye is on
you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve
wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, 8 because you know
that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is
slave or free.
1 Peter 3:1 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so
that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words
by the behaviour of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of
your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as
braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes. 4 Instead, it
should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5 For this is the way the holy
women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.
They were submissive to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and
called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not
give way to fear. 7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with
your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with
you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Submitting to Authorities.
Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities,
for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities
that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against
the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so
will bring judgement on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do
right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one
in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's
servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the
sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on
the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not
only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6 This is
also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their
full time to governing. 7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay
taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honour, then
honour.
Being liberal to others.
Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard
work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said:
`It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
Romans 12:13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice
hospitality.
Being contented.
Philippians 4:11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have
learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be
content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
Blessedness of maintaining.
Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the
wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his
delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Psalms 19:9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The
ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. 10 They are more
precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey
from the comb. 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great
reward.
Psalms 50:23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honours me, and he
prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
Matthew 5:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be
filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say
all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same
way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
John 15:10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just
as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.
