The Lost
The Punishment of the Wicked.
Is from God.
Leviticus 26:18 "`If after all this you will not listen to me, I
will punish you for your sins seven times over.
Isaiah 13:11 I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for
their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble
the pride of the ruthless.
On account of their.
Sin.
Lamentations 3:39 Why should any living man complain when punished for
his sins?
Iniquity.
Jeremiah 36:31 I will punish him and his children and his attendants for
their wickedness; I will bring on them and those living in Jerusalem and the
people of Judah every disaster I pronounced against them, because they have not
listened.'"
Amos 3:2 "You only have I chosen of all the families of the
earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins."
Idolatry.
Leviticus 26:30 I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense
altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will
abhor you.

whose images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria-- 11 shall I not deal with

Rejection of the law of God.

you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have

Ignorance of God.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not

Evil ways and doings.
Jeremiah 21:14 I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the
LORD. I will kindle a fire in your forests that will consume everything around
you.'"

both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.

Pride.

wilful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes.

heavens above and the kings on the earth below.
Unbelief.
Romans 11:20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and
you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
Hebrews 3:18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his
rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to
enter, because of their unbelief.
Covetousness.
Isaiah 57:17 I was enraged by his sinful greed; I punished him, and hid
my face in anger, yet he kept on in his wilful ways.
Jeremiah 51:13 You who live by many waters and are rich in treasures,
your end has come, the time for you to be cut off.
Oppressing.
Isaiah 49:26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will
be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I,
the LORD, am your Saviour, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."
Jeremiah 30:16 "`But all who devour you will be devoured; all
your enemies will go into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered; all
who make spoil of you I will despoil.

community will be established before me; I will punish all who oppress them.
Persecuting.
Jeremiah 11:21 "Therefore this is what the LORD says about the men
of Anathoth who are seeking your life and saying, `Do not prophesy in the name
of the LORD or you will die by our hands'-- 22 therefore this is what the LORD
Almighty says: `I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their
sons and daughters by famine.
Matthew 23:34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and
teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your
synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35 And so upon you will come all the
righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to

Disobeying God.

they put your law behind their backs. They killed your prophets, who had

blasphemies. 27 So you handed them over to their enemies, who oppressed them.
But when they were oppressed they cried out to you. From heaven you heard them,
and in your great compassion you gave them deliverers, who rescued them from the
hand of their enemies.
Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of
such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
Disobeying the gospel.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not
obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
Is the fruit of their sin.
Job 4:8 As I have observed, those who plough evil and those who sow
trouble reap it.
Proverbs 22:8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his
fury will be destroyed.
Romans 6:21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you
are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
Galatians 6:8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that
nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the
Spirit will reap eternal life.
Is the reward of their sin.
Psalms 91:8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment
of the wicked.

paid back for what their hands have done.

Famine.
Leviticus 26:19 I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky

trees of the land yield their fruit.

Noisome beasts.
Leviticus 26:22 I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob

War.
Leviticus 26:25 And I will bring the sword upon you to avenge the
breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a
plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands.
Leviticus 26:32 I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who
live there will be appalled. 33 I will scatter you among the nations and will
draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities
will lie in ruins.

Deliverance unto enemies.

Resurrection of damnation.

Rising to shame and everlasting contempt.

safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a
pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
